The Finance Department is responsible for providing financial management and accounting services for all city operations. This includes maintaining accounting records, borrowing money to finance city expenditures, investing city funds, audit and budget preparation, supervision of revenue collection and disbursements of city monies, payroll processing and financial reporting.
An independent bond rating agency, S&P Global Ratings, has assigned the City of Spring Lake Park an AA Rating. This rating covers the city's general obligation bonds.
Deputy City Clerk
The City of Spring Lake Park is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual to serve as its next Deputy City Clerk.
Under the general direction of the Administrator, Clerk/Treasurer, the Deputy City Clerk is responsible for providing confidential, administrative level support for the Administrator, Clerk/Treasurer and the Administration Department. This position performs Clerk related functions including records management and data practices, preparation of Council agendas and minutes, business licensing, election administration and basic human resources support.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, three years progressively responsible work experience in administrative and/or executive secretarial work, working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and commission as a notary public (or ability to obtain notary commission within three months of employment). Desired qualifications include an Associates' Degree in business administration, Minnesota Municipal Clerk Certification, two years of municipal government experience and experience working with elections.
